Five students from AIC Chebisaas Boys High School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County moved to court on Wednesday after they were suspended for allegedly refusing to sit for exams on a Saturday. According to the students who belong to the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) faith, Saturday is their professed Sabbath Day and they should observe it by going  Church. The school management allegedly suspended them on July 6, 2019 for failing to do the allocated exams their Sabbath Day. The students accused the school of infringing on their religious rights.

Raila is set to receive the Icon of Democracy Award during the upcoming Africa Voice Achievers Award to be held in Nairobi on August 16. The African Union High Representative for Infrastructure will be among several Kenyans and Africans who will be feted during the third edition of the awards targeting personalities who have had a positive impact on communities in countries or region they live in. The award committee is set up by the magazine’s board to screen and verify all nominations that are received. After shortlisting, the candidates are informed to accept their nominations.

She also alleged that Mr. Mwangi demanded an unnecessarily large share of money from amount Rwandan President Paul Kagame gave her on behalf of her daughter in 2016.

Peter Odhiambo has been accused for accessing Janet Khaniri’s Safaricom line and making away with Sh45,600 on July 26 from her M-Pesa account. He was arraigned at a Milimani court yesterday jointly charged with others not before court.  Mr. Odhiambo pleaded not guilty to the charges and the prosecution did not object to his release on bond. His lawyer Kenneth however argued that he had a similar charge in another court. “Your honour, I don’t understand why the prosecution is bringing this case in piecemeal. We have another matter similar to this one. It is confusing,” the lawyer told Milimani Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku.  Odhiambo was released on a bond of Sh200,000 with an alternative of Sh100,000 cash bail. The Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale has said he will quit politics if Deputy President William Ruto becomes president. Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday night, Duale said he could even serve as a clerk in State House if Ruto wins in 2022. Duale who has been a firm supporter of the DP since 2007, acknowledged Ruto to be a strong politician The Garissa Town MP made it clear that the 2022 presidential race will be between Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga. The Kenyan Premier League ( KPL ) have moved the venue of the opening match of the season between  Gor Mahia  and  Bandari  FC, set for Sunday. According to KPL CEO Jack Oguda, the Kenyan Super Cup - pitting the KPL champions and FKF  Shield Cup  winners against each other - will now be played at Machakos Stadium and not Kasarani Stadium as earlier planned. “We wanted the match to be played at Kasarani but the venue is already booked for another event,” Oguda

Suspected Mombasa drug lord Ali Punjani today escaped police trap in his residence in drug swoop that has been declared by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i. Police in plains clothes, GSU officers and K-9 Unit police officers with sniffer dogs raided the home in Nyali trying to net Punjani, who is suspected to be a close ally of convicted drug lords, the Akasha brothers. He however managed to escape before police arrived. “We believe this house has been used to sell drugs. We will not get out of here until this house has been fully searched. A member of Mombasa County Assembly (MCA) was arrested on Monday in connection to drug trafficking. Bofu Ward Representative Ahmed Salama was arrested in Likoni following the operation targeting politicians and businessmen suspected to be behind narcotics trade. His arrest comes a day after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i held a meeting with politicians and security team. At least 18 people have been arrested so far.           A police officer and Gacigoini village residents in Kirinyaga County at the scene where a four-year-old girl's body was dumped on August 12, 2019.  A four-year-old girl was defiled, killed and her body dumped in a coffee farm in Kirinyaga County.    Stacy Nyakio’s body, which was found on Monday morning, had bruises on the neck, a pointer that she might have been strangled. Last year, the victim's uncle Mr Laurence Murimi was also murdered and his body dumped in a coffee factory. The family linked the killings to protracted land dispute.
