School suspends SDA students for refusing to seat exams on Saturday

Five students from AIC Chebisaas Boys High School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County moved to court on Wednesday after they were suspended for allegedly refusing to sit for exams on a Saturday.
According to the students who belong to the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) faith, Saturday is their professed Sabbath Day and they should observe it by going  Church.
The school management allegedly suspended them on July 6, 2019 for failing to do the allocated exams their Sabbath Day. The students accused the school of infringing on their religious rights.

IEBC announces date for Kibra By-elections

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has gazetted November 7, 2019 as the date for Kibra Constituency by-elections .  In a gazette notice dated August 16, IEBC said each political party intending to participate in the Kibra by-election has until August 26, 2019 to submit names of candidates set to take part in the nominations. Party nominations according to IEBC, will be held on September 9 and 10 ,2019. Big win for Kenya on UN Security Council seat

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma, Photo courtesy Kenya has been nominated as the African candidate for UN Security Council seat after defeating Djibouti in second round of voting at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa. A committee of envoys representing member states of the AU headquarters, officially known as the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) made the decision in a secret ballot. Kenya will now contest at the United Nations for a one-year non-permanent seat in elections slated for next year in June.

Former Nyaribari Masaba MP and Moi era assistant minister Dr Hezron Manduku has passed on. Dr Manduku was admitted at the Nairobi Hospital in the ICU since last week, and lost the battle on Saturday night. Manduku was first elected in 1992, defeating Prof Sam Ongeri. He was appointed assistant minister Foreign Affairs following his success.
