Peter Odhiambo has been accused for accessing Janet Khaniri’s Safaricom line and making away with Sh45,600 on July 26 from her M-Pesa account. He was arraigned at a Milimani court yesterday jointly charged with others not before court. Mr. Odhiambo pleaded not guilty to the charges and the prosecution did not object to his release on bond. His lawyer Kenneth however argued that he had a similar charge in another court. “Your honour, I don’t understand why the prosecution is bringing this case in piecemeal. We have another matter similar to this one. It is confusing,” the lawyer told Milimani Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku. Odhiambo was released on a bond of Sh200,000 with an alternative of Sh100,000 cash bail. Safaricom employee Peter Odhiambo when he appeared before Nairobi’s Milimani court

A national referendum to change the Constitution is now a matter of when, not if, as key political parties and leaders in the country have started working on a rare unity pact that analysts say will form the basis of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s succession politics. President Kenyatta’s wing in Jubilee Party, Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement, Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Democratic Movement, Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress, Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford-Kenya, and Gideon Moi’s Kanu are already reading from the same script and are pledging support for the Building Bridges Initiative, which many see as the vehicle to the referendum. A united front bringing together these key political parties could start a wave that eventually installs a leader at State House in 2022. The clearest indication yet of how the referendum question could read was revealed last week when women leaders under the Embrace movement, a pillar in the Kieleweke formation of the President Kenyatta-...

Photo, Courtesy Best Dairy Farmers in Kenya: BY FARMERS TV : When Gilbert Ngetich bought his first Friesian cow in 2009, little did he know that 10 years later, he would be feted for his outstanding performance in a field he had little knowledge in. He was awarded a gold certificate last week for his Sweet Farm Dairies Roret farm which stood out among others in the region. The competition organised by the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Irrigation and Elgon Kenya, a non-governmental organisation, was aimed at encouraging farmers to transform their farms through technology. “In 2009, I bought a pedigree Friesian heifer which gave birth to the first heifer the following year. The cows have since multiplied; I now have 13 cows. The number could have been higher than this but I sold some,” said Ngetich. The 41-year-old farmer said he decided to rear the Friesian breed as it’s known to produce more milk compared to other breeds. A single cow can produce up to ...
