School suspends SDA students for refusing to seat exams on Saturday

Five students from AIC Chebisaas Boys High School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County moved to court on Wednesday after they were suspended for allegedly refusing to sit for exams on a Saturday. According to the students who belong to the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) faith, Saturday is their professed Sabbath Day and they should observe it by going  Church. The school management allegedly suspended them on July 6, 2019 for failing to do the allocated exams their Sabbath Day. The students accused the school of infringing on their religious rights.

Raila Odinga set to receive an African major Award

Raila is set to receive the Icon of Democracy Award during the upcoming Africa Voice Achievers Award to be held in Nairobi on August 16. The African Union High Representative for Infrastructure will be among several Kenyans and Africans who will be feted during the third edition of the awards targeting personalities who have had a positive impact on communities in countries or region they live in. Each year people from various walks of life nominates individuals who they deem fit to be recognized for their contributions towards the advancement of Africa,” said Rev. Ambassador Elvis Iruh who runs the Netherlands-based Voice Magazine and founder of the award. The award committee is set up by the magazine’s board to screen and verify all nominations that are received. After shortlisting, the candidates are informed to accept their nominations.

Ms. Syombua who is also Wendy's mother has accused Mr. Mwangi for taking advantage of her little talented daughter and making fortunes from it “During our trip to Rwanda, President Paul Kagame gave me Ksh.500,000 to support Wendy’s talent, I shared the money with Joe by giving him Ksh.200,000 but he still demanded for more,” Ms. Syombua said. She also alleged that Mr. Mwangi demanded an unnecessarily large share of money from amount Rwandan President Paul Kagame gave her on behalf of her daughter in 2016.

Safaricom employee charged for stealing Ksh. 45,000 from a deceased customer

Peter Odhiambo has been accused for accessing Janet Khaniri’s Safaricom line and making away with Sh45,600 on July 26 from her M-Pesa account. He was arraigned at a Milimani court yesterday jointly charged with others not before court.  Mr. Odhiambo pleaded not guilty to the charges and the prosecution did not object to his release on bond. His lawyer Kenneth however argued that he had a similar charge in another court. “Your honour, I don’t understand why the prosecution is bringing this case in piecemeal. We have another matter similar to this one. It is confusing,” the lawyer told Milimani Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku.  Odhiambo was released on a bond of Sh200,000 with an alternative of Sh100,000 cash bail. The Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale has said he will quit politics if Deputy President William Ruto becomes president. Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday night, Duale said he could even serve as a clerk in State House if Ruto wins in 2022. Duale who has been a firm supporter of the DP since 2007, acknowledged Ruto to be a strong politician The Garissa Town MP made it clear that the 2022 presidential race will be between Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga. He termed the rest of the perceived 2022 candidates as jokers.

''But they will have to wait for some time since Parliament must first get a letter from the courts indicating the administrator of the late MP’s estate,”  MPs’ pensions expert has said “Yes the family is entitled to Sh32 million before tax, but we are not releasing the money now. We have to follow the law, which requires that we have to first get the letter of the administrator of the estate,” the source said. “If the family agree on how to share the money, the name of the administrator must be published in the Kenya Gazette ,  so that anybody with an issue can come up,” The deceased’s brother, Mr Imran Okoth, however declined to comment on the matter citing  that the matter is private and the family lawyer is best placed to handle it. “I don’t know why they are telling
