President Uhuru Kenyatta and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma, Photo courtesy Kenya has been nominated as the African candidate for UN Security Council seat after defeating Djibouti in second round of voting at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa. A committee of envoys representing member states of the AU headquarters, officially known as the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) made the decision in a secret ballot. Kenya will now contest at the United Nations for a one-year non-permanent seat in elections slated for next year in June.

School suspends SDA students for refusing to seat exams on Saturday

Five students from AIC Chebisaas Boys High School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County moved to court on Wednesday after they were suspended for allegedly refusing to sit for exams on a Saturday. According to the students who belong to the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) faith, Saturday is their professed Sabbath Day and they should observe it by going  Church. The school management allegedly suspended them on July 6, 2019 for failing to do the allocated exams their Sabbath Day. The students accused the school of infringing on their religious rights.

David Rudisha survives a grisly road accident in Keroka

 Rudisha's damaged car, photo courtesy Kenyan athlete and world's 800M record holder Mr. David Rudisha is recuperating from a car crash that left him nursing minor injuries. Mr Rudisha was driving a Toyota V8 engine when its tyre burst near Keroka town, colliding head on with Ena Coach. The 10.30pm Saturday incident occurred at a notorious black spot along the Kisii-Keroka highway. Rudisha's friend  Mr Stephen Marai  , said the athlete is out of danger and was treated at a hospital in Keroka and later moved to Kilgoris Sub-County Hospital. "Rudisha is okay, but he is nursing minor injuries. We are leaving Kilgoris to Keroka Police Station now where he is coming to meet the police," Marai said.

Business: KENYA AIRWAYS reports Billions of Losses

Kenya Airways has today reported Ksh8.56 billion net loss for the half year ending June 30, from a loss of Ksh4.03 billion recorded in similar period last year. This is despite a slight growth in total income during the period which closed at Sh58.9 billion compared to Sh52.2 billion. Auditor General Edward Ouko at past event ,photo courtesy Auditor General Mr. Edward Ouko’s tenure comes to an end on 26 Th August 2019 having served a non-renewable term of eight years. Ouko was appointed as the first Auditor-General of the Republic of Kenya under the 2010 Constitution on 27 Th  August, 2011. Mr. Ouko is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (FCA) and is a co-opted Council Member of the Institute representing Africa. He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPA) and holds a B. Com Degree (Hons) in Finance and Accounting from the University of Nairobi. Before his appointment, Mr. Ouko was the Auditor General at the African Development Bank where he directed the audit function and was also in charge of the anti-corruption and fraud function up to June 2010. The first time legislature has been very active in Kenyan politics and has not failed to hit the headlines with series of controversial statements. "Who is BABU OWINO? Passaris could clearly tell that her hubby and his guest were not having a business meeting. Anyway, she gracefully walked to their table, a smile on her face, mixed emotions in her heart and stretched her hand and said “hello darling”.  Passaris disclosed during a TV interview. “I walked in, I greeted him and went back to my table,” Passaris recalled that day with a chuckle of satisfaction.
