Gor Mahia stands better chance of proceeding to next round of CAF Champions League

Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will have it all to do in the return leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary match after settling for a barren draw in the first leg at Burundian side Aigle Noir CS.
Gor made the journey to their East African neighbors hoping to establish an advantage ahead of the return leg in a fortnight.
However, new boss Stephen Pollack got no more than an opportunity to observe whether his side is ready for competitive action.
Pollack gave a number of new signings their debuts including keeper Robert Mapigano who started ahead of Fredrick Odhiambo. Others handed full debuts included Dickson Ambundo and Tobias Otieno.
Strangely, Gor had only four players named on the bench. Over half a dozen of players did not travel to Burundi with midfielder Ernest Wendo serving a suspension from last season while injuries kept out veteran Dennis Oliech alongside Philemon Otieno and Curtis Wekesa.
Ghanaian Francis Afriyie, Ivorian Gislein Yikpe & Maurice Ojwang, signed from Western Stima, are all ineligible to play the preliminary round after late registration but they will be eligible for the next round should Gor advance.
