No More Kenya Primary Education Examinations (KCPE), Government declares.

 President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced there will be no national examinations in primary schools under the new curriculum.
Uhuru made the declaration on Friday during the third National Conference on Curriculum Reforms at the KICC.
Junior secondary schools will now be domiciled in secondary school doing away with examinations to be held in Grade 6 during the transition.
These are part of the recommendations by a task force set up to iron out the issues surrounding the implementation of the new curriculum which has been adopted by the President.
The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development had been pushing for class seven and eight teachers elevated because the primary school cycle will be shortened to six years.
The two classes will be dropped from primary school and incorporated to junior secondary school.
Under the new curriculum, primary and secondary schools will each have six classes.
The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development wants primary school classes that will fall vacant in the new arrangement converted to junior high school.These include grades 7, 8 and 9, equivalent to classes 7, 8 and Form One in the current 8-4-4 system.

Baringo Senator Gideon Moi on Sunday hosted several Rift Valley leaders in Kabarak as the battle between him and Deputy President William Ruto for control of the region continues of 2022. The leaders visited retired President Daniel Moi before holding a closed-door meeting with Gideon. Shock as Varsity students fail to apply for HELB loans

Panic has hit the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Loans Board (Helb) over the declining number of continuing students in middle level colleges taking up subsequent allocations. It emerged yesterday that only half of the 43,000 who applied for loans last year have applied for a second allocation, raising questions on the whereabouts of the others. Questions are also being raised whether the students are dropping out of colleges after completing only one year of study, raising concerns over prudent utilization of public resources. The concern is further registered among first time applicants, with only 46,000 requests received by Helb out of the 98,000 who applied through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
