Ouko was appointed as the first Auditor-General of the Republic of Kenya under the 2010 Constitution on 27 Th August, 2011. Mr. Ouko is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (FCA) and is a co-opted Council Member of the Institute representing Africa. He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPA) and holds a B. Com Degree (Hons) in Finance and Accounting from the University of Nairobi. Before his appointment, Mr. Ouko was the Auditor General at the African Development Bank where he directed the audit function and was also in charge of the anti-corruption and fraud function up to June 2010. Police are investigating loss of more than 3000 bags of sugar suspected to be laced with mercury in two godowns in Changamwe and Jomvu in Mombasa. The godowns were closed last year by a multi agency team led by KEBS and KRA probing contraband sugar suspected to be contaminated with mercury and copper. Baringo Senator Gideon Moi on Sunday hosted several Rift Valley leaders in Kabarak as the battle between him and Deputy President William Ruto for control of the region continues of 2022. The leaders visited retired President Daniel Moi before holding a closed-door meeting with Gideon. Those present included Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos, Moiben MP Sila Tiren, Nominated MP Wilson Sossion and Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat. Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion now wants the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) to be abolished. According to Mr. Sossion, who blames the commission for the endless stalemate between the government and teachers, an independent body should be created to help in the regulation of teachers’ welfare. Mr. Sossion also revealed that the union had already proposed amendments in the TSC Act that should only leave the commission with the responsibility of employing teachers. “The mandate that we granted TSC is bad, we need to return it back into the Ministry of Education. We cannot have two government bodies manning the same thing; education. We need to have one office and the money they are using should be used to employ teachers,” said Sossion. A census enumerator attached to Maseno, Kisumu County, was Saturday night hospitalized after she was gang raped and robbed by thugs. While confirming the incident, Nyanza police boss Vincent Makhoha said a hunt has been launched for the attackers. According to Dr. Makhoha, the woman was ambushed outside her gate after she had been dropped off by her supervisor following completion of the exercise.He added that the suspects were hiding in a thicket near the woman’s gate and pounced on her immediately she was dropped off.The police boss further stated that the County Statistics Department has been ordered to immediately suspend the supervisor who dropped the woman due to negligence.The supervisor as well as police officers who were deployed in the area to offer security for the census team have also been summoned to record statements with the police in Maseno who are probing the incident.

A police officer and Gacigoini village residents in Kirinyaga County at the scene where a four-year-old girl's body was dumped on August 12, 2019. A four-year-old girl was defiled, killed and her body dumped in a coffee farm in Kirinyaga County. Stacy Nyakio’s body, which was found on Monday morning, had bruises on the neck, a pointer that she might have been strangled. Last year, the victim's uncle Mr Laurence Murimi was also murdered and his body dumped in a coffee factory. The family linked the killings to protracted land dispute.
