Siaya County Assembly shoots down 'Punguza Mzigo' bill

Siaya County Assembly becomes the second Assembly to say 'NO' to Ekuru Aukot's ‘Punguza Mzingo’ proposed amendments to the constitution. This comes a day after Legislature from Nyeri County Assembly rejected the bill.
The MCAs on their defense say proposed law likely to erode constitutional gains achieved since 2010. The proposed amendments require a backing of at least 25 counties to proceed to next level before it can be subjected to a referendum.

The Magistrate sitting on the tax evasion case involving Keroche Breweries Directors against The Kenya Revenue Authority has set the Keroche Breweries Bosses free on bail terms. “Joseph Karanja to pay cash bail Ksh. 2million within seven days while Mrs. Karanja should pay Ksh. 10million immediately’’ Magistrate Andayi ruled.
