Siaya County Assembly shoots down 'Punguza Mzigo' bill

Siaya County Assembly becomes the second Assembly to say 'NO' to Ekuru Aukot's ‘Punguza Mzingo’ proposed amendments to the constitution. This comes a day after Legislature from Nyeri County Assembly rejected the bill.
The MCAs on their defense say proposed law likely to erode constitutional gains achieved since 2010. The proposed amendments require a backing of at least 25 counties to proceed to next level before it can be subjected to a referendum.

The Magistrate sitting on the tax evasion case involving Keroche Breweries Directors against The Kenya Revenue Authority has set the Keroche Breweries Bosses free on bail terms. “Joseph Karanja to pay cash bail Ksh. 2million within seven days while Mrs. Karanja should pay Ksh. 10million immediately’’ Magistrate Andayi ruled.   Ken Okoth picture, in past event The family of former Kibra MP Ken Okoth will get Sh32 million from Parliament. The amount includes his group life insurance cover and death gratuity. ''But they will have to wait for some time since Parliament must first get a letter from the courts indicating the administrator of the late MP’s estate,”  MPs’ pensions expert has said “Yes the family is entitled to Sh32 million before tax, but we are not releasing the money now. Suspected Mombasa drug lord Ali Punjani today escaped police trap in his residence in drug swoop that has been declared by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i. Police in plains clothes, GSU officers and K-9 Unit police officers with sniffer dogs raided the home in Nyali trying to net Punjani, who is suspected to be a close ally of convicted drug lords, the Akasha brothers. Pastor Ng’ang’a apologises to Linus Kaikai over death threats
