Raila Odinga will be out of the country for a period of one week this according to the former Prime Minister's head of Communications , Mr. Dennis Onyango.

A committee of envoys representing member states of the AU headquarters, officially known as the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) made the decision in a secret ballot. Kenya will now contest at the United Nations for a one-year non-permanent seat in elections slated for next year in June.

The Magistrate sitting on the tax evasion case involving Keroche Breweries Directors against The Kenya Revenue Authority has set the Keroche Breweries Bosses free on bail terms. “Joseph Karanja to pay cash bail Ksh. 2million within seven days while Mrs. Karanja should pay Ksh. 10million immediately’’ Magistrate Andayi ruled. The matter to be mentioned in court on 2nd September, pre-trial 24th September. Mr. Karanja underwent surgery and was released on a personal bond and presented himself to court today.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has gazetted November 7, 2019 as the date for Kibra Constituency by-elections . In a gazette notice dated August 16, IEBC said each political party intending to participate in the Kibra by-election has until August 26, 2019 to submit names of candidates set to take part in the nominations. Party nominations according to IEBC, will be held on September 9 and 10 ,2019. The Kibra seat fell vacant following the death of former Member of Parliament Ken Okoth, who succumbed to cancer at the Nairobi Hospital. Raila is set to receive the Icon of Democracy Award during the upcoming Africa Voice Achievers Award to be held in Nairobi on August 16. The African Union High Representative for Infrastructure will be among several Kenyans and Africans who will be feted during the third edition of the awards targeting personalities who have had a positive impact on communities in countries or region they live in. Each year people from various walks of life nominates individuals who they deem fit to be recognized for their contributions towards the advancement of Africa,” said Rev. Ambassador Elvis Iruh who runs the Netherlands-based Voice Magazine and founder of the award. The award committee is set up by the magazine’s board to screen and verify all nominations that are received. After shortlisting, the candidates are informed to accept their nominations.
Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris has proposed to the ODM party to consider Imran, the late Ken Okoth's brother for the vacant Kibra seat. Imran who has been serving as the Constituency's CDF Manager has been proposed by Passaris to continue with the projects Ken Okoth was undertaking.
A member of Mombasa County Assembly (MCA) was arrested on Monday in connection to drug trafficking. Bofu Ward Representative Ahmed Salama was arrested in Likoni following the operation targeting politicians and businessmen suspected to be behind narcotics trade. His arrest comes a day after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i held a meeting with politicians and security team. At least 18 people have been arrested so far. Kenya Airways has today reported Ksh8.56 billion net loss for the half year ending June 30, from a loss of Ksh4.03 billion recorded in similar period last year. This is despite a slight growth in total income during the period which closed at Sh58.9 billion compared to Sh52.2 billion. One family member and more than 40 other guests fell ill after attending a wedding last weekend. According to reports, at least 10 guests and family members are currently admitted in various Nairobi hospitals after testing positive to cholera. As of Wednesday, at least three of them were admitted at Mater Hospital, three at Mama Lucy Hospital and four at the Kenyatta National Hospital. However, the groom Wilson Wamunyu and his wife Sarah survived the scare and flew for their honeymoon in Dubai immediately after the wedding on Saturday. Speaking to the media, Samson Mathu, the groom’s brother noted that their 89-year-old grandfather, Wamunyu Wilson, died on Tuesday at Mt Kenya Hospital. Mathu noted: “We have written to the food supplier to demand answers.” He revealed that the food was supplied by Hot Dishes, a Nairobi-based restaurant with outdoor catering services.
