It's 25 years for Baktash Akasha ,U.S. court

A U.S. Law Court seating in New York has sentenced Kenyan drug trafficker Akasha Baktash for 25 years. The drug lord is set to serve his sentence in USA. Akasha has also been fined $100,000 payable to the U.S. Government.

School suspends SDA students for refusing to seat exams on Saturday

Five students from AIC Chebisaas Boys High School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County moved to court on Wednesday after they were suspended for allegedly refusing to sit for exams on a Saturday. According to the students who belong to the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) faith, Saturday is their professed Sabbath Day and they should observe it by going  Church. The school management allegedly suspended them on July 6, 2019 for failing to do the allocated exams their Sabbath Day. The students accused the school of infringing on their religious rights.

David Rudisha survives a grisly road accident in Keroka

Mr Rudisha was driving a Toyota V8 engine when its tyre burst near Keroka town, colliding head on with Ena Coach. The 10.30pm Saturday incident occurred at a notorious black spot along the Kisii-Keroka highway. Rudisha's friend  Mr Stephen Marai  , said the athlete is out of danger and was treated at a hospital in Keroka and later moved to Kilgoris Sub-County Hospital. "Rudisha is okay, but he is nursing minor injuries. We are leaving Kilgoris to Keroka Police Station now where he is coming to meet the police," Marai said.

Business: KENYA AIRWAYS reports Billions of Losses

Kenya Airways has today reported Ksh8.56 billion net loss for the half year ending June 30, from a loss of Ksh4.03 billion recorded in similar period last year. This is despite a slight growth in total income during the period which closed at Sh58.9 billion compared to Sh52.2 billion. KNUT SECRETARY GENERAL WILSON SOSSION WANTS TSC ABOLISHED

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT)  Secretary General Wilson Sossion now wants the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) to be abolished. According to Mr. Sossion, who blames the commission for the endless stalemate between the government and teachers, an independent body should be created to help in the regulation of teachers’ welfare. Mr. Sossion also revealed that the union had already proposed amendments in the TSC Act that should only leave the commission with the responsibility of employing teachers. “The mandate that we granted TSC is bad, we need to return it back into the Ministry of Education. We cannot have two government bodies manning the same thing; education. We need to have one office and the money they are using should be used to employ teachers,” said Sossion. Auditor General Edward Ouko at past event ,photo courtesy Auditor General Mr. Edward Ouko’s tenure comes to an end on 26 Th August 2019 having served a non-renewable term of eight years. Ouko was appointed as the first Auditor-General of the Republic of Kenya under the 2010 Constitution on 27 Th  August, 2011. Mr. Ouko is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (FCA) and is a co-opted Council Member of the Institute representing Africa. He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPA) and holds a B. Com Degree (Hons) in Finance and Accounting from the University of Nairobi.
