Nyeri County rejects ‘Punguza mzingo’ bill
According to Kirinya Govornor Ann Waiguru, the rejection of Ekuru Aukot proposed amendments to the constitution sets a sign of the times ahead. The Governor has been in support of the BBI which is yet to present its report to Kenyans.
''As I've said before, Mt Kenya is fully in support of BBI as evidenced today in Nyeri where the bill presented by Ekuru Aukot has been rejected by the whole assembly. Nyeri County has set the precedence; other counties are most likely to follow. These are signs of the times ahead.'' Ann Waiguru posted on her Twitter account.

Addressing rallies in Meru on Saturday, Dr Ruto said amending the Constitution would be a waste of time. He said responsible leaders should focus on development initiatives to transform livelihoods of Kenyans instead of politicking. “They are disturbing us with these politics calling for changes to the Constitution. Let us desist from such politics and focus on development,” he said.

The  Uasin Gishu Women Rep while appearing on K24's  Punchline on Sunday night together with her   Homa Bay counterpart Gladys Wanga ,  said that “When people from Rift Valley woke up to vote in 2017, they did not wake up to vote for Uhuru Kenyatta. They woke up to vote for Ruto who was in partnership with Uhuru Kenyatta.” Gladys Shollei The Woman Rep further added that many people in the Rift Valley voted for Jubilee Party in 2013 and 2017 General Elections  because they supported Ruto and not President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The 28 years old will be the club's most expensive player in history. Tottenham Hotspur and Belgium's Club Brugge are reported to have settled on a fee of around Ksh.1.5 BILLION (£12 million) for the player. “Tottenham and Club Brugge have agreed a fee of around £12m for Victor Wanyama,”  Sky Sports  reported. More than 3000 of contraband sugar disappear from godowns

Police are investigating loss of more than 3000 bags of sugar suspected to be laced with mercury in two godowns in Changamwe and Jomvu in Mombasa. The godowns were closed last year by a multi agency team led by KEBS and KRA probing contraband sugar suspected to be contaminated with mercury and copper. In one the godowns owned by Bollore in Changamwe, thousands of sugar bags disappeared two weeks ago. Source the Star

Dispute between the Gor Mahia fc and striker Dennis Oliech has escalated after the player said that he doesn’t recognize a letter terminating his contract issued to him by the club on Tuesday. South Sudan deports 16 Kenyans

The 16 Kenyans, alongside four British nationals, were working for a private security company but on Tuesday, the Ministry of Interior gave them 72 hours to leave the country. According to The East African, the deportation orders came just a few days after their company, Insight Security, failed to resolve a pay dispute over salaries and arrears of guards working for the firm. “There are 16 Kenyan nationals who have been given 72 hours to pay all dues which they owe the government, and also pay our people their pensions…then leave the country,” Thiik Thiik Mayardit, the Juba deputy mayor said. The Insight Security firm was closed down last week on allegations that it exploited local workers and had not paid taxes. Baringo Senator Gideon Moi hosts leaders ahead of 2022 elections

Baringo Senator Gideon Moi on Sunday hosted several Rift Valley leaders in Kabarak as the battle between him and Deputy President William Ruto for control of the region continues of 2022. The leaders visited retired President Daniel Moi before holding a closed-door meeting with Gideon. Those present included Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos, Moiben MP Sila Tiren, Nominated MP Wilson Sossion and Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat. Others were former MPs Zakayo Cheruiyot, Musa Sirma, Frankline Bett, former Governor Isaac Ruto, Businessman Bundotich Buzeki and Tiaty MP William Kamket. The leaders discussed several issues concerning the region, including the welfare of farmers, peace in Kerio Valley and political trends in the region.
