Marianne Kitany claims Meru Senator Mithika
Linturi was unfaithful, prompting her to file a divorce application in court.
Appearing before Milimani Commercial Court Chief
Magistrate, Peter Ngare, on Wednesday, August 28, Ms Kitany said one day she
peeped at her husband’s phone and “found a woman had sent him a pornographic
video”.
That discovery, on top of being denied her conjugal
rights, drove Ms Kitany into filing for a formal separation from the former
Igembe South MP.
“I filed for divorce because Linturi was cheating
on me,” Ms Kitany told the court, adding: “He slept with other women in
town.” “Linturi would come home late, and did not want to give me my
conjugal rights,” said Ms Kitany.
The complainant further claims that Mr Linturi
shortchanged her, going ahead to inscribe his name on the documents bearing her
property.
According to Ms Kitany, Mr Linturi would later allege
that it is Ms Kitany who was attempting to steal his material possessions.
“Linturi threatened he would kill
me,” said Ms Kitany, adding: “He even reported to police that I wanted to steal
his property.”
Ms Kitany, who is in her early 40s,
further told the court that the Meru Senator “told police that my children, who
were staying with us in the Runda home were terrorists”.
Mr Linturi and Ms Kitany tied the
knot in April 2016 after nearly two years of dating. The estranged couple first
met each other in 2013 at Deputy President William Ruto’s office, where Ms
Kitany worked as the chief of staff.
