Offices of the Auditor General and The Controller of Budget declared vacant

In a Gazette notice dated 27 August 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta has officially declared the Office of The Auditor General  and the Office of the controller of Budget vacant. The President has also invited interested Kenyans to apply for the vacant posts. Mr. Kenyatta however appointed Mr.Stephen Masha as the acting Controller of budget for a period of 90 days.

Sossion kicked out as KNUT Secretary General

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection on Friday suspended embattled Knut secretary general Wilson Sossion. Wilson Sossion during a press briefing, photo courtesy According to a letter by the Registrar of Trade Unions E.N Gicheha dated August 30, 2019, Sossion has been replaced in an acting capacity by his deputy Hesbon Otieno Trending   DCI orders arrest of Joe Mwangi Sossion's ouster comes a day  after a section of the union's National Executive Council met in Nairobi and recommended the removal of the secretary general and his subsequent replacement with Otieno. FC Barcelona have today confirmed that an agreement is in place to Loan Philippe Coutinho to Bundesliga side Fc Bayern Munich. The Brazilian midfielder has failed to impress since joining the La Liga champions from Liverpool in January 2018, and Barca have been keen to offload their big-money signing as they revamp the squad.

David Rudisha survives a grisly road accident in Keroka

 Rudisha's damaged car, photo courtesy Kenyan athlete and world's 800M record holder Mr. David Rudisha is recuperating from a car crash that left him nursing minor injuries. Mr Rudisha was driving a Toyota V8 engine when its tyre burst near Keroka town, colliding head on with Ena Coach. The 10.30pm Saturday incident occurred at a notorious black spot along the Kisii-Keroka highway. Rudisha's friend  Mr Stephen Marai  , said the athlete is out of danger and was treated at a hospital in Keroka and later moved to Kilgoris Sub-County Hospital. "Rudisha is okay, but he is nursing minor injuries. We are leaving Kilgoris to Keroka Police Station now where he is coming to meet the police," Marai said.

Majority Leader Aden Duale to retire from politics if Ruto wins Presidency in 2022 Elections

The Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale has said he will quit politics if Deputy President William Ruto becomes president. Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday night, Duale said he could even serve as a clerk in State House if Ruto wins in 2022. Duale who has been a firm supporter of the DP since 2007, acknowledged Ruto to be a strong politician The Garissa Town MP made it clear that the 2022 presidential race will be between Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga. He termed the rest of the perceived 2022 candidates as jokers.

Former Nyaribari Masaba MP and Moi era assistant minister Dr Hezron Manduku has passed on. Dr Manduku was admitted at the Nairobi Hospital in the ICU since last week, and lost the battle on Saturday night. Manduku was first elected in 1992, defeating Prof Sam Ongeri. He was appointed assistant minister Foreign Affairs following his success.

Census enumerator gang raped in Kisumu County

A census enumerator attached to Maseno, Kisumu County, was Saturday night hospitalized after she was gang raped and robbed by thugs. While confirming the incident, Nyanza police boss  Vincent Makhoha said a hunt has been launched for the attackers. According to Dr. Makhoha, the woman was ambushed outside her gate after she had been dropped off by her supervisor following completion of the exercise.He added that the suspects were hiding in a thicket near the woman’s gate and pounced on her immediately she was dropped off.The police boss further stated that the County Statistics Department has been ordered to immediately suspend the supervisor who dropped the woman due to negligence.The supervisor as well as police officers who were deployed in the area to offer security for the census team have also been summoned to record statements with the police in Maseno who are probing the incident.

Auditor General Edward Ouko at past event ,photo courtesy Auditor General Mr. Edward Ouko’s tenure comes to an end on 26 Th August 2019 having served a non-renewable term of eight years. Ouko was appointed as the first Auditor-General of the Republic of Kenya under the 2010 Constitution on 27 Th  August, 2011. Mr. Ouko is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (FCA) and is a co-opted Council Member of the Institute representing Africa. He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPA) and holds a B. Com Degree (Hons) in Finance and Accounting from the University of Nairobi. Before his appointment, Mr. Ouko was the Auditor General at the African Development Bank where he directed the audit function and was also in charge of the anti-corruption and fraud function up to June 2010.
