Former Senator Elizabeth Ongoro decision on vacant Kibra seat

Former Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro has decided not to run for the vacant Kibra constituency seat. Elizabeth Ongoro while addressing the media sited that the constituents of Kibra were not in 'poverty' of good leaders and will make their decisions during the by-elections.
Kibra Constituency was represented by the late Ken Okoth who passed on at The Nairobi Hospital early this month. The Speaker of the National Assembly has already declared the Kibra seat vacant and it was speculated Ongoro would be among the already long list of those aspiring to replace Ken Okoth.

ODM'S ELECTIONS BOARD GIVES NOTICE ON KIBRA BY-ELECTIONS

''NEB invites interests persons for the Kibra parliamentary seat to download application forms from party website www.odm.co.ke , fill and submit to the Party Headquarters by close of business on Friday 23rd August 2019 '' a statement from the ODM Party reads. This comes a day after t he Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)  gazetted November 7, 2019 as the date for Kibra Constituency by-elections .  In a gazette notice dated August 16, IEBC said each political party intending to participate in the Kibra by-election has until August 26, 2019 to submit names of candidates set to take part in the nominations. Party nominations according to IEBC, will be held on September 9 and 10 ,2019. More than 3000 of contraband sugar disappear from godowns

Police are investigating loss of more than 3000 bags of sugar suspected to be laced with mercury in two godowns in Changamwe and Jomvu in Mombasa. The godowns were closed last year by a multi agency team led by KEBS and KRA probing contraband sugar suspected to be contaminated with mercury and copper. School suspends SDA students for refusing to seat exams on Saturday

Five students from AIC Chebisaas Boys High School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County moved to court on Wednesday after they were suspended for allegedly refusing to sit for exams on a Saturday. According to the students who belong to the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) faith, Saturday is their professed Sabbath Day and they should observe it by going  Church. The school management allegedly suspended them on July 6, 2019 for failing to do the allocated exams their Sabbath Day. The students accused the school of infringing on their religious rights.
